"I don't even know what I would do for myself if I could. If I had the time to do something," he says. "It was like, you know, it was definitely a profound moment for me because I was much younger." The artist has been illustrating books and magazine covers since 1920. He is now working on his first book of children's stories about an African-American boy who learns how to draw in Africa.
