How to Study Abhidhamma Systematically
If we were going to teach an ethics 101 course that was framed around Buddha Gosa's questions, what might that look like? Well, you know, again, I think it has to be shaped by the genres of the text that we have. We have to study genre and reading practices more carefully than we often do. The Vinaya is a somewhat unique and interesting way of approaching world questions. Abhidhamma is at the core of what you would have to understand before you could responsibly do Buddhist studies or understand Buddhism.
