The Pre-Shee Era: An Accumulation of Challenges

I was living in China for that entire 27 to 2012 period. And it's funny because my memory of it was this was a time, a formative time of the kind of China rise story. So I also remember this is a period of triumphalism. It's hard when you're not in a country with a real super tactile feel for the interlinkage between problems.
