Can the Attorney General Intervene to Defend a State Law?
The supreme court has heard three intervener cases in the past week. Arizona, Kentucky and north carolina have all had their attorney general intervene to defend state laws. The Arizona case involved a rule that immigrants could be turned away if they couldn't prove what kind of payments they would make. In North Carolina, an election board was trying to set rules for the ease of administration of the next election.
