Gerard taught a course in European literature. He focused on five novelists: Cervantes, Stendall, Flaubert, Dostoevsky and Proust. They all thought deeply about the human condition, which is Gerard's focus. By the way, it was in reading Dostaevsky that he converted. It's funny how that works.
