Are You Defending the Races Speech?
People defend the races speech on first amendment grounds. They wanted to create a world where this kind of prejudicial speech was acceptable for them to say, for others to say in the future. People are inconsistent all the time and get over that pretty easily by being unaware of it or not paying attention to it too much. But people would be inconsistent about, for example, being environmentalists and failing to re cycle, or going too fast in the right hand lane of a highway.
