The Blight of the City of Thebes

Apollo wanted the king's killer brought to justice. This was the only way that the blight would be lifted from the city. King Ettipus asked his brother-in-law about the killing, which had happened over a decade ago. The old men of Thebes wished earnestly that Athena and Apollo would answer their prayers. Their city was crippled by an epidemic, and the streets reeked with death.
