The Unchecked Executive

The most un-American thing I can think of is an unchecked executive. An authoritarian. This guy is not your leader. He's your public servant. He runs the country at your behest and he runs one little piece of it constitutionally speaking. We don't need any daddies in this country because there's no kings and no-people. No dictators, right? The entire system is set up to prevent the centralization of power in a single figure. So why would any of you great Americans want to do anything that helped that?
