The Effects of Climate Change on Migration

In late 2022, southern Nigeria experienced its most devastating rainfall and flooding in a decade. Hundreds of people drowned and about 1.3 million others were displaced. Meteorologists predicted these floods and climate researchers have for many years been warning that if carbon emissions continue unchecked, extreme weather events like this will only become more and more common.
