Is It Just a Trembling Hand, Temporary Situation?
When agents are less than rational, when agents are algardums, many more things could happen. One thing that we didn't discuss really, but it's definitely relevant for this setting, is that these agrims could collute just as well as rational agents could collude. If both of us value the object at a hundred dollars, but we bid only ten dollars each, then one of us is going to win with 50 % probability and we're going to get a 90 dollar benefit. So in principle, that should be a good enough deturrent for you to never move away from bidding ten dollars. Tacit collusion sort of works by means of punishment and reward schemes.
