How to Reduce the Probability of Blanking Out
Psychologists have an approach when people have fear, especially fears that are more irrational than rational. So I ask all the people I coach who have blanking out as a fear to say, what is the true likelihood you'll blank out 100% to 0%. Most people say maybe 20%. And I help them to realize that that means 80% of the time you're likely to remember. If you actually do forget, and it does happen, retrace your steps. In other words, repeat what you just said. Often repeating yourself gets you back on track.
