The Battle of Calvary
The 4500 Arcadian and Akian Hoplites, who formed more than half of the army, wished to be led by their own men. They left under 10 generals whom they had independently appointed. Their plan was to get some ships from the Heracliotes, by any means necessary, to sail to Kalkay, a Greek port city in Bithynion territory. In doing so, each of the 10 generals took a company of 450 hoplites against one of the villages. One company didn't fare too well: Smeekrays of Arcadia led his forces across a gully; every single one of them were killed. The remaining companies rendezvoused
