There is a suggestion that plague was sweeping the Mediterranean due to unprecedented migrations driven by climate change and natural disasters, famine and drought. "I think all of it at once seems quite likely to me," says CNN's John Sutter. People are resilient, but just the idea that any community could recover after waves upon waves upon waves of different kinds of disasters over centuries isn't very realistic.
