Shambosko's family along with hundreds of others fled to Nyangay Church for refuge. Catholicism is really strong in Rwanda and all of these congregations were completely integrated. People felt that they would get shelter in the churches. In some cases the clergy were heroic. But most commonly they were part of the elite who were strategically planning the genocide.
