The History of Science
The history of science is a history of correcting some rather large errors in our initial guesses even in our quantitative sciences. Who can be credited with actually discovering quasars? As we'll see the answer to that question is not very simple and for all intents and purposes, it's entirely unimportant as well. In terms of the history anywhere else, you can emphasize and de-emphasize certain things and that can color what you think is the answer to a simple question like who discovered the first quasar.
