It is getting harder to have social mobility and this article that we talked about from the beginning of this episode mentions that as kind of a predictor and a factor for civil conflict or social unrest. One study shows that for every $1 in subsidized federal student loans, it increases college tuition by 60 cents. There's so much lobbying that happens in politics where an elite through money, power, quid pro quo, blackmail,. whatever it is can influence the outcome of a policy or law that's going to be passed. So all of that being said, I want to look at this in more detail specifically when it comes to the ruling elite.
