The Role of Language in Dehumanization

In a new study, researchers asked people to either lie or tell the truth about a group that they dehumanized or dehumanized. People rated groups on a scale from zero to a hundred of where outgroups fall on feeling thermometer. Anything less than a hundred is dehumanizing; it's like saying humans are not fully evolved. And quite often emotion plays a really critical role here in identifying the deceptive dehumanizer and how you outwardly talk about people matters.
