A lot of the deep fakes you're seeing are being put together by college students in their dorm room just trying to have a laugh. We don't know how good they can get yet because we haven't seen the Steven Spielberg produced deep fakery. What is going to happen when these AI systems that truly know how to persuade, get put behind political ad campaigns? And I'm not even talking like illegally. Facebook is going to power its ad recommendation algorithm with these technologies as his Google. Then it simply becomes who can buy the best PR representative they win.
