Maths is all about playing with ideas. Once you decide the rules, then you start finding weird, wonderful, crazy answers. The edges are perfect because I want them to be. That is the sort of object I prefer to think about. This is a major theme in mathematics. Things are what you want them tobe. There is no reality to get in your way. You have endless choices. It's actually free in terms of money - universities should charge almost nothing if you want to study maths. Although again it's also free interms of what you're wanting to do and how much time you can spend on it. But that doesn't really make any sense so we'll leave
