What Is Your Thought Process of Not Wanting This to Be Part of the Naturalization Process?
When Singapore was first founded 60 years ago, not very few people spoke English law. There was a huge push to speak English in order to allow ourselves people to work for British and all these things. But then there was also a drive to really suppress other languages,. For Chinese people, remember how dialects were deliberately suppressed in the past? I worry when people start saying that if you don't speak the certain language, you're notSingaporean enough. So everything to me when it comes down to a test of your English, just feels something about it that makes me feel very unsettled.
