The Rise of the Unions in the Workplace
The share of national income that goes to workers compared to companies has declined by about 10% in every major economy apart from Russia. The level of union membership has very much declined the proportion of the workforce that is in what in the UK is called zero hours contracts or contingent work. So, percent are these sorts of risks on the continuum of what we have seen in the workplace over the past 40 years? How do you think we should look at this? That's a really profound question. I think I want to boil it down to actually the unions had their hey days in the post-war period and they were easy to be unionized. Now times have changed and what hasn't changed yet
