The Future of Biofuels in Australia
I don't really understand biofuels. I tend to spend most of my time on wind and soil or other stuff. There's a lot of optimism out there, but you've got to be realistic. The biomass has to come somewhere. You talk about it coming from waste, landfill decomposition, from waste cooking oil, and from agricultural residue. It can, but how much of that is there? Decisions would have to be made say, well, let's never use it as renewable diesel for trucking because the alternative there is to use batteries or hydrogen directly. That leaves you with the two very difficult to abate sectors,. which are international maritime operations and international long distance aviation
