The Importance of Perspective in Art

We discovered perspective in 1414 in the Renaissance. Go to any Roman wall painting painted 2000 years before and you will see a mathematical system of single point perspective. The Egyptians had it, they just weren't that into it. It was only in the Renaissance that that kind of perspective became the going meal. And then by the 19th century, artists like Monet and Van Gogh and those guys, they wanted to shatter that space and break it the same way.
