The last 50 years or so seemed to have slowed down a little bit since the heyday of kind of late nineteenth and early twentieth century. But i think progress is still moving faster than at any time before the industrial revolution, not quite as fast as it was about a hundred years ago. You can only get so far in incremental improvements alone. You need a fundamental, revolutionary improvement every once in a while, every generation or so,. otherwise you're going to plateau.
