The temptation is always to bolt, that's what the ego voice is. And every temptation of this world is just attempt of the ego to get the mind to succumb to death. You're making a bargain with an entity that's just a puff of nothingness. It's not a reality. Nobody can make a bargain with death and keep it because eternal life is god's will. Joy, happiness, love. That's their moment of reprieve for a moment there. They're getting a little philosophical in this garbage dump, because it's a slight reprieve from what just came before.
