The ISFAR Group's Conflict of Interest
Many studies show something like a 30 to 50% decrease in mortality from heart problems amongst moderate drinkers. ISFAR members have been criticized publicly as having conflict of interest due to funding from the alcohol industry. There could be socioeconomic drivers linked to moderate drinking that also might influence long-term health. If you're more well off, you may be more likely to drink a moderate amount over time. And you are also linked to better health outcomes in that case.
