Is There a Difference Between Doism and Stoicism?

In the west, we've had this greater sense of the the atamistic individual. And i often it did make me wonder why stoicism is becoming quite popular again now. Because actually it fits in very neatly with the idea we have of ourselves as these atomistic individuals who can be self sufficient and independent. That is a good thing, rather than something which diminishes. I think that one may say, ok, i can see why you are saying that giving in to disappointment in becoming losing hope in people isn't good from a certain point of view. But then how do we actually maintain that hope? What can sustain our hope? Mean, maybe wes just writ to become cynical
