St. Faustina's Misery
The only adjective that St. Faustina uses to describe herself is that she's miserable. This theme of misery constantly appears in the diary, which is very interesting because that's not something that we tend to think about ourselves. It's just like St. Paul, when he speaks in the letter to Corinthians, that there is two kinds of sadness. There is the sadness that brings to despair and that's the action of the devil in our heart. But then there is the sad that brings to conversion, which is to see our sadness in the background of the mercy of God.
