Climate Refugees: Is It a Threat to the Future?
There are many countries in the world recognizing this already, and some of them are relocating their population. I'm concerned that most of the public and policy debates continue to remain focused on these projections of zillions of people displaced by the middle of the century or by the end of the day. We need to realize that if we float the prospect of a looming migration crisis related to climate change, the reaction of states will be to close their borders rather than reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
