There's over a dozen families of solutions that are being discussed and some of those I have reviewed in some of my recent papers. One may help another, but eventually these ideas would work if we have multiple stakeholders who believe they're worthwhile adopting. It's very difficult for a single scientist to just go out there and say I'm going to do it differently than all of you. But if people recognize that this is a good idea and you have multiple journals, multiple institutions, multiple funders, multiple scientists who believe that this is the way to go, then we do see change.
