This was before the days of the internet. We didn't really have a way to share stuff other than physical media. And it was really that practice of o trading software on floppy disks, or later on, on cartridges. Like i remember when i was a kid, everybody with a notary would trade their cartridges around. That was really a big thing back in those days. Because there was no internet. People still went to one another's homes. Ha, that was a thing. I also recall hearing about an early virus that was also propagated through disks. The individual who wrote the virus convinced people to put the disks on their computers and then sent them to research institutions specifically researching aids
