The Mimetic Quality of Suicide

The idea of incest, cannibalism and sodomy all have to do with self causation. The scapegoat mechanism can happen in two forms: pure self preservation or a community needing to reconstitute itself through this false transcendence. In ancient cultures, if an animal was going to be sacrificed, that animal would need to be dressed up like a human before it worked. So there's something sort of weird about that. Yet we have to sort of see ourselves in them in some way for the sacrifice.
