Are Admitting Privileges a Big Obstacle?
In 20 16, you have whole woman's health, which was about a texas law that required abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. The logic here was that if there are complications with an abortion, you need to get the patient into the hospital quickly. And this case was a win for abortion. A liberal Justice stephen bryer basically said, look, requiring this of abortion providersis its definitely substantial obstacle. Rak it's a big hurdle. Admitting privileges are difficult to maintain. Especially hospitals require quotas a lot of time. Since abortionis a safe procedure, they're not goig to meet those quotas aue. Theyre not going to bring many patients there
