How Do African American Spirituals Connect With Black Lives?

In the Ukraine there is a special apple harvest in the eastern Orthodox tradition and it's connected to the feast of the transfiguration. In Southeast Asia there was a congregation that developed a song out of the experience of sweatshop workers who in these sweatshops are given a number instead of a name. African American spirituals which we don't talk about this very much are not written in the church but they were developed in the fields by slaves or indentured servants or people in Jim Crow South. There are many within the middle ages in Europe that are also quite fascinating.
