#1544 Ten Things about Woodrow Wilson

Listening to America

CHAPTER

Woodrow Wilson: A Southerner and a Southerner

Woodrow Wilson was a deeply religious man. He believed that sort of God was guiding his actions, says Dr. Lindsey Trevinsky. But he actually worked hard to set back the possibilities of racial integration and did not advance civil rights during his two terms as president. And one of the films he showed in 1915 was the Birth of a Nation, an extraordinarily important piece of cinema, but a piece of propaganda for the KKK and the lost cause.
