National review has a good amount of influence, but i think it is different in than it was 20 years ago. I don't mean we have influence in an undue way. But if you look, for example, back to the question of whether not it would be proper for the republican party to nominate and approve amy coney barrett,. pretty much every senator who was on the fence on that question cited an essay written by dan mc laughlin about the history of election year nominations. That's not threat that a politicians are responding to. Is not even an ideological argument. It was an essay that established historical precedent.
