The Importance of Mobility in a Free Society

In a free society, real freedom means you can go wherever you want. In repressive societies, movement is restricted. So for African Americans, as soon as they arrived in the New World, their movement was restricted. And so when you get to the automobile, the automobile gives them incredible freedom of movement. It lets you go where you want to go, when you want to going. And I think that mobility is so important to freedom for all of us.
