Seed Drills - The First Tools of the World

Jeffret hull was not the first person to try to use some kind of tool or machine to plant his crops. There is evidence of early seed drills in china as far back as the second century. When tull decided to contrive an engine to plant his sain foin, he thought about other devices that he was already familiar with. So this device had a grooved, rotating cylinder that would carry the seeds from a hopper above to a funnel underneath. The cylinder was also the axle for the drill's wheels, so it turned as the wheels did. And then there was a plough toward the front of the drill that created a channel for the seeds to drop into.
