Syncretism and the Catholic Church

Christians were oppressed for about 2,000 years until the early 300s. They became a whatever the opposite of oppressed is. The story that usually gets told is that the crafty church was like, how do we steal stuff from the pagans? And that part's sort of true. But the other thing that was happening is Catholicism, in particular, is famous for its syncreticism.
