Is There Too Much That American Parents Are Expecting?
There is too much that American parents are expected to do and there is not enough time, money or social support to do most of them for most people. I think we see the discomfort as something that can and should be eradicated completely instead of thinking about how we can tolerate it in more skillful, strategic ways. We've created a situation in which most people cannot afford to not work except the American workplace is completely unforgiving of people having a life outside of work. And so if we can put our attention on the right things, the more effective things to be fighting for, then we'll have more strength to fight well and more skill to do it with.
