Theatre in the restoration was quite different from what we expect when we go to the theatre to day. The entire auditorium was lit, with different sections of the theatre designated for different people. Footmen were only admitted to the upper gallery after act four - they don't get to see the whole play. A lot of people who called after three acts would pay money where they got to enter the theatre and watch Act five before it ended.
