The collaborator in this novel or the one that we're most aware of is Alide. She collaborates really in a way to save herself, because by aligning herself with the Soviets and with the pro-Soviet Communist Party she's saving herself. I think war stories or war as a topic is a very male topic. But I'm always more interested in what's happening on the backstage. What's happening in the kitchen? I'm not interested in the big headlines or the big stories history is made of.
