I use Twitter for very specific purposes, none of which is connecting with the people that I really care about. If you want to follow me on Mastodon and make sure that you don't miss anything that I post on Twitter, you can absolutely do that 100% without having to check Twitter because it all is the same. You can do the same thing on Tumblr. Just pick whichever one you want and it's all the same. Of course, you would have your own Mastodon server.
