The Problem With Laminated Steel Motors
Conventional motors are made with laminations of steel. If the flux tries to travel perpendicular, axially, then it becomes just a heater. And basically your steel laminations become like shorted windings. So we have now a very different topology and we've got a material which sounds suitable. But if you use it instead of electrical steel, it's much worse. The tooling is quite expensive and it takes a long time. It's primarily made out of carbide, it takes along time.
