The Death of the Supply Driven World
There was no way of knowing that before the internet. Back then it was basically, okay, American Health Association says carbs are good and fat is bad. But now we can look it up. In a very similar way, I think as you were saying the doctor stuff, it's the same idea. It used to be the supply of doctors was whoever the doctors were in your area. Now with social media and the ability to buy online, it's not about what your local store has. It's about what the world has that you can buy too.

In this episode of Made You Think, we discussed “The Sovereign Individual,” a book published in 1996 predicting how the Internet would change our lives and work over the following decades. Some of it’s come true, some of it is yet to come, but no book has made either of us think so much about how technology might destroy what we think of as citizenship, work, travel, community, and life.
