My preference is for the utilization of high quality textbooks. You're almost guaranteeing a minimum standard of instruction, even if you just follow the script. The more competent and confident you become, then you can experiment with those really interesting bits of pedagogy. I accept that those aren't in place in all schools, particularly not primary schools.
