The Impossibility of Equal Opportunity in a Totalitarian Society

Cato: Equality of opportunity is not perfect, but it sounds great. It's this kind of thing I expect to hear from a Republican politician running for office saying, look, equality of outcomes bad, equality of opportunity. But the trouble is, well, first of all, it's got, as we said before, about equality of outcome. And if it happened in God's world, I'd be thrilled.
