When your parents died, I almost felt a relief of not needing to be a singer anymore in the spotlight. But how was I going to do much with my life when I needed to get back to the kids? So it was a big, big dilemma. And I called out my friend Mary Bailey, who said, don't quit singing. You can earn a check. There's this place I know of that pays well.
