Skateboarding - Are Hawkey Skates a Bad Idea?

People in canada have just been bred to associate skating with hawkey, so that's like the norm. Have you ever skated in anything other than hawkey skates? I have once. When i was a kid, i couldt never tie them up tight enough, yes. So i would always be like, y bow legged. And it ruined skating for me, man. But i really think we need a culture shift here.
