Io is so volcanically active because of its position between Jupiter and the other three large moons. After Io comes Europa, staying with you, Karlin. What are its main features? Well Europa is the smallest moon and it couldn't look more different from Io. It's the second one out, but it is shiny. Underneath that there is a slushy water ocean. And every so often Europa undergoes some tidal stretching and flexing. These fishes will open material from the ocean underneath or spray out.
